Happy Anniversary Voyager: The Caretaker

Twenty-six years ago today, "Star Trek: Voyager" premiered. In the opening episode entitled "Caretaker", Voyager would take the Star Trek franchise into a whole new realm as the crew of the USS Voyager were stranded in the unexplored Delta Quadrant. Upon being thrown 75,000 light-years from home, Captain Janeway would gather her inner strength to unite a divided crew on an Intrepid-class starship. With a steadfast Captain, a former Starfleet-turned-Maquis First Officer, a principled Vulcan Security Officer, a suave pilot, a half-human half-Klingon Engineer, a young Ensign, a Talaxian scout, a telepathic alien and eventually a former Borg drone, the Voyager crew was dynamic, energetic and unique. This show gave the Star Trek canon new alien species, extraterrestrial territories, and countless battles, particularly featuring one Starfleet's greatest enemies: "The Borg". This moving series was full of relatable and rich characters from Captain Janeway to the spiritual Commander Chakotay to the half-Borg half-human Seven of Nine. "Voyager" incorporated exploration, family, hope, love and a crew's endless determination to never to give up until they found a way home.

The woman who started it all...Captain Kathryn Janeway

With Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), First Officer Chakotay (Robert Beltran), Commander Tuvok (Tim Russ), Lt. Tom Paris (Robert Duncan McNeil), Lt. B'elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson), Ensign Harry Kim (Garrett Wang), The Doctor (Robert Picardo), Neelix (Ethan Phillips), Kes (Jennifer Lien) and Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), each character was perfectly casted and eventually became a family.

At the helm of the series, Rick Berman brought together an excellent team of writers and showrunners: Michael Piller, Jeri Taylor, Brannon Braga, Kenneth Biller, André Bormanis, Ronald D. Moore and others. Most notably, Berman's work with Brannon Braga would catapult the Voyager series with phenomenal two-part episodes such as "Year of Hell", "Dark Frontier", "Equinox", "Unimatrix Zero" and "Endgame".

A thank-you to the producers, writers, directors and cast of "Star Trek: Voyager". This series has monumentally improved, inspired and touched countless fans around the world. May Voyager live on forever through its timeless aesthetic, brilliant storylines and calming sense of family.
